What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture originated in China thousands of years ago as a way of balancing energy ā€œQiā€ in the body. Practitioners use points on the body to impact the flow of qi along energy channels called meridians. Pain and disease are believed to result from blockages along these meridians. Points are stimulated with thin, sterile needles and heat or electrical stimulation can be used to enhance the treatment.

Medical Acupuncture

Medical Acupuncture is performed by a physician. The physician integrates modern understanding of disease processes and acupuncture treatment methods to better care for their patients. While most may view acupuncture as a pain management technique, conditions such as migraines, anxiety, side effects from chemotherapy, headaches, and stress can also benefit greatly from acupuncture treatments.
